Context

Here we are encouraged to think about the functions within and of the space/s. Spaces and environments are living and evolving organisms with 99% of their systems and networks invisible and inaccessible to us. Or...

Maybe that's only one of the many ways of perceiving it. By speculating and interacting with what is in motion or with what used to be there perhaps I could connect with the system which I am a part of.

Daniel ushered our class into The Nest, a place I avoid entering. Moving through the space increases whatever compassion I have for wasps as that space makes me feel like I'm inside of their nest; overwhelming noise and activity, hypervigilant while trying to be understand. Sounds exhausting.

Process

As we proceeded upstairs I noticed the open carpeted area with people sitting comfortably, looking at screens. This environment felt different immediately, and for some reason I pictured them sitting inside of a giant’s open skull, the furniture as the folds of the brain. Have you ever had a feeling during a story reading of knowing you will inevitably reread it. You float in that limbo between continuing to read and beginning again. That’s how I felt for a brief moment before entering the roof garden. “Why haven’t I been here before?” Oh yeah, because I have to overcome the wasp. This short-in-duration journey felt so magical and dream like. Waking from a nightmare, into a dream.

I wanted to draw upon this magical and dream-like energy to explore the roof space and the upper floor. The three-body fountain held my attention and interest for the longest time. I immediately wondered what it would be like to live in it. I know it seems a bit out there...

What follows is the exploration of the other dimensions of the ground using the sense of imagination.
